Terms and Conditions

Continuous Subscriptions:

Wendy Windblows is an ongoing-subscription service, like a magazine or club subscription. You join, and payment is taken automatically from your Card or Paypal account, until you tell us you don't want to continue. 

Monthly Subscription:

Gives you the freedom to cancel at any time – you are only committed to a month at a time. It involves more work for us though, so it is the dearest option.

Annual Subscription:

Means you are committed to a year at a time. You can't ring up half way through the year and ask for a refund of the other half, as you don't want to fly in winter!

Two-Yearly Subscription:

Is cheaper still, but means, of course that you are committed to two years minimum. No refunds part way through because you stopped going out!

HM Forces Can Suspend Their Membership:

We will freeze the membership of anyone serving in HM Forces if they are posted overseas, (and restart it from the date they return to the UK) as they don't have a choice about when they leave the country. This is so they don't lose out on months of membership while serving abroad. 
Similarly, anyone seriously injured during Hang Gliding or Paragliding can have a similar suspension of membership during their recovery, on providing proof of injury.
No, we don't freeze your membership because you're going on holiday – don't be tight!

Cancellation

You can let us know you want to cancel at any time , just Contact the Office by email, phone, text or in writing and let us know. Cancellation will take effect when your current subscription expires.
In other words, if you have paid up to 15th April next, say, and want to quit the service then, let us know at anytime before that date, and we will make sure your automatic-renewal is cancelled.
We don't refund part-subscriptions. If your subscription runs until April 15th, and you cancel in October, we don't refund you half a year, sorry. Equally, it's no use contacting us in June, and saying:
"I didn't want to renew back in April, can you cancel me and refund the remaining ten months?"
Wendy is a very cheap service, and we don't want the costs and hassle of this. If you want to quit at a month's notice, pay the monthly rate. You can quit any time, and it will just run for the rest of the month.
It's up to you to cancel before your annual renewal comes up, if you pay the cheaper annual rate.

Password Sharing

When you subscribe, you are paying for your personal use of the data only. You are expressly forbidden from giving your password to a friend or relative, or sharing the data with anyone else whatsoever without our permission. Keep your password secret, and only use it yourself. If two or more people start sharing a password, the money to maintain the service will collapse, and the service will go bankrupt.

Republishing the Data

Equally, If we find that you have republished our data on your own website, or by any other means, your subscription will be terminated without warning, or refund. We also reserve the right to sue you for the loss of revenue you have caused.

Call Limits

In order to make password-sharing difficult, there are limits as to how often you can access the data. By phone, you can call each weather station once per 15 minutes, and you can call each station up to 10 times a day.
Similar limits apply to our website - you can enter the data area once per 15 minutes, and stay for a maximum of 20 minutes.
You cannot leave the page permanently open and get continuous updates! The system is designed expressly to prevent this.
These limits should not inconvenience you, the individual subscriber, but if several people try to use one password, the system quickly locks anyone out from using that password, and service is denied.

Call Costs

The Wendy Subscriber telephone numbers are normal -01 or -02 numbers. There is no excess charge, and these numbers are a part of all normal free-call packages on landline and mobile tariffs if you have such a package. If you do not have a free-call package, then they are charged at normal STD call rates.

Alerts

The Wendy system can send you email or text alerts when wind conditions are within certain limits at certain stations. Email Alerts cost nothing to send, so are included free in your normal subscription.
Text Alerts cost money to send, so they are paid for separately. We charge 12p a text - just the usual network delivery cost. You pay a £12 deposit by card for 100 texts in advance (in addition to your normal subscription) - and as the texts are sent, they are knocked off your total. The system tells you how many you have left.
