Station situation
Worthing Wendy station is on the highest part of Worthing Yacht Club, (where there is a screen display of the weather). The station is used primarily by sailors and windsurfers.
For detailed location, see the linked map.
OS Grid ref: TQ141021
Altitude: 16ft (5m)
Interpreting Readings
There is no particular wind direction that is critical to the general use of the station, but it is most use in onshore winds, ranging from SE through S to SW, where it seems to read fairly accurately.
The station is some 60ft AMSL, (and also ground level!) - and thus reads out the winds that will be experienced out on open water nearby. (Winds on the beach will be a bit lower than the station reads out.)
The station experiences clean winds from all directions, and reads out in Knots and Beaufort Force, rather than in MPH, like all our coastal stations. This is because most sea and beach users are happier with those readings more...
Pilot Notes
We have no information about Hang and Paragliding use in the immediate area.
