Station situation
Weston Wendy station is on the Pier, at Weston Beach. The area is popular with sailors, windsurfers, kite buggies, and so on.

OS Grid ref: ST315608
Altitude: 358ft (109m)
Interpreting Readings
There is no particular wind direction that is critical to the general use of the station. The anemometer is approx 100 feet above ground level, and is in clear air for most directions. However, the pier structure interferes with the winds in NW and N directions - thus causing the station to under-read in winds from that quarter. We hope to move the station soon to the windward end of the pier to cure this.
Being on the pier, sea level is ground level! The station reads out in Knots and Beaufort Force, rather than in MPH, like all our coastal stations. This is because most sea and beach users are happier with those readings. more...
