Station situation
Thurstaston Wendy station is on the premises of the Dee Sailing Club. The station is at the top of the south-west facing cliffs on the Wirral side of the Dee Estuary just a short distance from the popular wind-surfing location of West Kirby.
For detailed location, see the linked map.
OS Grid ref: SJ230840
Altitude: 115ft (35m)
Interpreting Readings
The station is open on all sides and so reads true in all directions. However, due to shelter from the land, the station will read lower than the wind out to sea for directions in the north-east half of the compass. more...
Pilot Notes
The station is a good indicator for winds at the nearby Thurstaston Cliffs, a flying site of the North Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club.
