Pay-as-You-Call Access
You can use the Wendy Windblows weather system without subscribing. All the
station information is available 24 hours a day by calling
our Public Access Number: 0900-900-7000 (calls
cost 50p/min).
(If you
subscribe, you can get the data for less than 5p/call)
Using the Single-entry Number 0900-900-7000
This is the number you can use to get to ANY of the stations shown on the map below,
and to jump rapidly from one to another - BUT you need a touch-tone phone. (Most phones
nowadays will do this).
By the way, if calling from a Mobile, you may get a "Number Not Available"
message, or just plain Unobtainable tone. This is because most Mobile Networks
do not switch on 0900 numbers as standard when you take out the phone. You
have to ring up your mobile's billing department, and ask them to turn on
calls to 0900 numbers.
Using the Public Number
- ring 0900-900-7000. The service will
answer with a "beep".
- AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, enter
the 2-digit station ID for the station you want (see the map here). You
have about 1-2 seconds to do this.
- If you don't enter anything, the
service will say
"Welcome to Wendy Windblows" then
wait another 2-3 seconds for you to enter an ID number.
Tips
- DON'T enter ID commands while the service is actually speaking to you - the
outgoing voice may drown out the touchtones from your phone, and you may
get the wrong station - only enter ID numbers while the voice is silent.
- After giving you 2 opportunities to enter a station ID, the
service will go into Menu mode, and lead you to the station you require.
Station IDs
Each Station has a 2-digit number. Enter it at ANY time during your call to jump to that station.
The menu system will help you find the number for each station.
Special Keys
There are 3 special keys which will help you to navigate
quickly to the station you want. When you press them, don't just dab the key
briefly; Press and hold the key for around a second.

The Star Key acts as a Fast-Forward button so that you can jump over any bits of the
report you don't want, like, say the Tide Times.
